Holistic Maternity

with Doula Aya Dunin

A Mindfulness based & Trauma Conscious approach

“Your body was never meant to confuse or confound you.” Elder Midwife Whapio

I came to this work through a deeply personal journey. Invited to attend a few friends' births, I was profoundly moved by the sacredness of the experience. Witnessing the transformative power of birth, I realized the importance of honoring it as the ultimate life ceremony and a sacred threshold. Inspired by the ancient wisdom of the wise women, the experiences of many mothers, the challenges my own mother faced with postpartum depression, and the guidance of incredible mentors, I embarked on a path of holistic maternity care as a Sacred Birth Keeper (doula).

Now, I'm dedicated to supporting mothers on their own journeys, nurturing their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being through pregnancy, birth, and the crucial postpartum phase.

May all mothers be nourished and feel supported.

Client Testimonials

“From the moment my husband and I got off our first zoom interview with Aya, we knew she was special. She created a sense of peace, warmth, confidence and clarity for two confused new parents. Requiring little to no instruction, Aya calmly took charge of our physical needs and helped us better connect with ourselves, each other and our new son. I cannot recommend her highly enough and wish every woman the gift of an Aya to help light the way after birth.” — Liana B.

“Aya’s support in the birth of my second baby was monumental. She held me from pregnancy through postpartum in her knowledge of Theta healing, sound healing, nutrition, prenatal, ancestral healing, birthing, and wholistic postpartum care. I felt incredibly seen and safe with her, as did my partner and older child. Spiritual space was held in my birthing place. She supported clarity of my needs and showed up specifically how I needed her. We were deeply nourished by her committed care and the food she prepared as we transitioned to a family of four and our recovery has been filled with ease. We have a deep love and gratitude for Aya.” — Cora B.

“We were so blessed to have Aya during my postpartum. Her comprehensive and thoughtful approach to help me heal: cooked deliciously nutritious food, made snacks to grab in the middle of the night while feeding my little one, made nourishing teas, sitz baths, and gave massages. We also talked about my birth experience and it was helpful to hear her advice on my emotional state in those first few weeks. I feel very lucky to have been received such compassionate care.” — Olya D.

“When I first connected with Aya, I knew right away she was the doula I’d want by my side at birth. Little did I know I’d be getting much more than that. Aya was pivotal in navigating pregnancy, birth and postpartum. During my long labor, Aya held space for me, connecting me back to my body and my power. Postpartum she nurtured me physically and spiritually, helping me embrace motherhood. She ensured that I had the support I needed to heal, connect with my newborn and connect to myself as a new mom. We are forever connected and I couldn’t be more grateful for the role she played in helping me bring my first born earth side.” — Gianna H.

“Aya was a necessary part of my birthing & postpartum experience. She prepared nutritious meals to replenish vital nutrients and to support breastfeeding and healing; she exposed me to sound therapy to regulate my nervous system. In addition to the meals she prepared, the laundry she folded and care to my other children, Aya provided me with so much emotional support. She a grounding force and I appreciate the love, attention, and expertise at such a monumental and transformational time.” — Natalie C.

“Aya is an excellent doula and really believes in the sacred, natural process of childbirth. She is a wonderful advocate for the families she doulas for, and desires to make their experience even more deeply precious through understanding, support and empowering women to do what their bodies were so perfectly made to do. Aya's skills are invaluable in that she has an ability to hold loving space for birthing families and provide them with herbal and nutritional support both in labor and in postpartum” — Haize R.
